- Frequently Asked Questions -
WHAT IS CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is the second major cannabinoid that is found in hemp and marijuana. However, contrary to the other major cannabinoid THC, CBD is non-psychoactive. As a result, reported effects of CBD include: alerting at low doses, sedating at high doses, reduction of pain, relaxation of muscle spasms, anti-inflammatory properties, reduction of nausea, reduction of anxiety/depression, counteracting unusual thoughts, anti-oxidant properties, anti-convulsant, neuro-protection, and potential anti-tumor effects.
WHAT IS CBD OIL?
CBD oil is a sublingual tincture of CBD. This is made by mixing a CBD extract from a cannabis plant into a soluble base such as alcohol or hemp seed oil. Typically, the CBD oil should be held under the tongue, absorbed directly into the bloodstream. This method provides a faster effect, while absorbtion via the stomach (such as taking a CBD capsule or edible product) is also effective but at a different rate.
WILL YOU GET HIGH?
No. CBD is considered a non-psychoactive cannabinoid so it won't get someone high the way that marijuana (THC) can. However, CBD is known to be relaxing so some report a feeling of relaxation. Occasionally, we have customers who adjust their dosage to prevent over-sedation, while others discover the sedating effects are great for insomnia.
IS OVERDOSING POSSIBLE?
Use of CBD has been shown to be safe in high doses. CBD has not been shown to cause a fatal overdose. It is possible, however, to take too much CBD, resulting in a chance of negative side effects like lethargy or drowsiness.
WHAT ABOUT INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER DRUGS?
Yes. CBD is metabolized by enzymes called CYP450. These are responsible for metabolizing many commonly used drugs, so as a result, CBD can inhibit the activity of these enzymes. Precaution should be taken when using CBD alongside life preserving medications for serious conditions. Most CBD Oil retailers suggest their customers take the Grapefruit Test...which is, ask your doctor or pharmacist “Should I avoid eating grapefruits or drinking grapefruit juice with this medication?” If they say yes, then treat CBD products in the same manner.
Will I Fail a Drug Test?
While our products are non-psychoactive, they are sourced from industrial hemp plants which, by definition, contain a THC level not exceeding 0.3% by dry weight. We can't guarantee you'll pass a drug test, and we encourage you to use your best judgement.
